Love it when conventional wisdom collapses. Probably won’t, but Munsil’s the GOP’s only hope. He’d close that gap if they have a series of joint appearances.”

Jon Kyl on the race for Governor: “Two things. One is that Gov. Napolitano is a formidable opponent. Her numbers in the state are very good because the people here perceive that she’s done a good job, so it’s tough for anybody to take her on, especially in the Clean Elections context which favors the incumbent significantly. The second thing I would say, though, is there’s at least one candidate you shouldn’t sell short. His name is Len Munsil and I think at the end of the day you will see he will fare better than people might predict.”

“We are writing to let you know of our enthusiastic support for Len Munsil, the leading Republican candidate for Governor of Arizona! … We believe it is critical for the Republican Party to rally around Len Munsil, the best candidate to replace our current liberal Governor. We have all known Len Munsil for years. We, along with thousands of others across the state, have admired his advocacy for families and children…. Len’s campaign has caught fire with citizens all over Arizona, and has established him as our best chance for victory in November. We also know Len as a skilled and articulate attorney, and as a public policy expert who has the intellect and leadership ability to turn Arizona in the right direction! … Please join this grassroots effort! Please join us in electing a mainstream Reagan conservative to the Governor’s office in Arizona in 2006!”
The 29 GOP senators and representatives who announced their support for Munsil, a Phoenix lawyer, during a Capitol news conference included Senate President Ken Bennett of Prescott and House Majority Leader Steve Tully of Phoenix. …
The Republicans said they share priorities with Munsil on tax relief, school choice and limited government and that they could trust him to do what he promises.”
