PLAYING BOTH SIDES

Janet Napolitano continues her peculiar form of cautious, calculating non-leadership by trying to play both sides of yet another issue. Today, she signed into law an NRA-backed bill to protect citizens who claim self-defense and use force against intruders. Unfortunately, last week Napolitano vetoed another bill backed by the NRA. As the Tribune reported:

The governor rebuffed legislative efforts to trim her power to impose any restrictions on the sale, carrying or use of firearms during an emergency. She acknowledged that police in New Orleans illegally took firearms from homeowners in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, but she said the legislation “addresses a problem that does not and never has existed in Arizona.’’

So according to Napolitano, you homeowners can use a gun to defend yourself in your home … unless she declares a state of emergency and takes your gun away first.
