EMPTY WORDS

The audacity of our Governor never ceases to amaze me. I am watching her language on immigration metamorphize until she sounds a lot like me. Listen to this from an AP story today:

You need fences, you need lights, you need ground radar, you need manpower.

That is what I’ve been saying since I got in the race. Now Janet Napolitano is saying it. But what she is saying now does not match up with what she has done.
Fences? Janet Napolitano famously mocked the deterrent effect of fences by saying, “You show me a 50-foot wall, I’ll show you a 51-foot ladder.” Now she says they are a deterrent.
Ground radar? Yesterday she vetoed a bill that provided funding for ground radar.
Manpower? On several occasions she has vetoed funding to deploy Arizona National Guard troops at our border.
Recognizing her vulnerability for her failure to act as 5 million people crossed our border illegally, she is now pretending to be concerned about the issue. I repeat — she cannot be trusted to secure our border, no matter what she does or promises to do in this election year.
