Janet Napolitano has staked her claim to handling the immigration crisis on one thing — waiting for the federal government to act. After opposing use of the National Guard early in her administration, the political ground shifted beneath her feet and she reacted by flip-flopping and then taking credit when President Bush began to use the Guard at the border.
In fact, one of her releases made it sound like she was the one who talked the President into taking action!
Now this story makes clear that Guard deployment is not happening on schedule or with as much force as planned. And according to the story, Arizona is where the shortage will occur.
Oh, and has anyone noticed — there are still hundreds of miles of our border that are wide open to unlawful entry?
