In Mel Gibson’s sci-fi thriller Signs, his brother the failed Minor League baseball player is told, “Swing away, Merrill.” This advice comes in handy when it becomes necessary for Merrill to whack away at aliens with a baseball bat.
There are two signs that our campaign is gaining ground. The first, is that Janet Napolitano’s henchmen are starting to “swing away” at us. We’ve been expecting this. Brace yourselves as Janet’s people try to deflect attention from their issues by attacking us at every turn. For the record, I want to say right now that I had nothing to do with Watergate or the design of the Edsel.
These attacks will do two things — drive up our name ID, and demonstrate the lengths to which some people will go to hang on to political power.
