MOVING THE RIGHT DIRECTION

In his speech tonight President Bush demonstrated again that Republicans take border security seriously. Responding to pressure from conservative Republicans, the President came out for building a fence, elimination of “catch and release,” dramatic increases in border patrol personnel, temporary use of the National Guard at the border and opposition to amnesty.
Democrats, who are out of power in Washington, have no plan on immigration, and are spending most of their time complaining about Republican efforts to secure the nation against another terrorist attack. Where Democrats are in power, such as here in Arizona, they have obstructed efforts to secure the border, as Janet Napolitano did when she vetoed a bill that provided funds to put the National Guard on the border.
