This eye-opening speech by U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is a welcome reminder of the need for law enforcement to actively pursue Internet sexual predators and those who sexually abuse children.
I spent nearly a decade training law enforcement officials and promoting legislation nationally to address these problems. For five years I led an organization whose mission was to “protect the innocence of children” — President Reagan’s Attorney General, the honorable Edwin Meese, was a member of my board of directors.
As a parent, as an attorney with expertise in this area of law, and as Governor, protecting the safety and innocence of our children would be a high priority.
