Rasmussen Reports released results of a poll this morning showing that 43 percent of voters oppose the confirmation of Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, while only 37 percent favor her confirmation.
Meanwhile, the Committee for Justice has produced a new TV ad highlighting Judge Sotomayor’s failure to recognize your rights under the Second Amendment.
Judge Sotomayor repeatedly over a period of years delivered carefully drafted speeches declaring that her status as a woman and minority made her able to issue better rulings than a white male. Now in her hearings she is attempting to deny the clear meaning of her own speeches. With a record that clear, and with public sentiment against her confirmation, there is no reason for Republican senators to support her nomination.
And if they are concerned that Hispanics will hold this against them, they should encourage President Obama to replace her by nominating Miguel Estrada.
